String-A-Hex Quilt Top

The Festival of Strings contest by Rachel at Stitched in Color is open. Here is my entry: The String-A-Hex quilt. My design is a twist on foundation paper piecing hexagons and a I wrote up a tutorial for the blocks if you want to make your own.
String-A-Hex
48 x 52" quilt top

The blocks are unified by a strip of Kona White but I varied the width and position of the white to add more interest. I think I am ready to quilt it but do I want to add a scrappy neutrals border?? I didn't use many neutrals in the top so that scrap pile is still bursting.

Go check out the other entries at Stitched in Color. I am also linking up to WIP Wednesdays since this is all I have been working on since last Wednesday.

  2. Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt top and the tutorial. I always wonder if hexagon blocks are too finicky for me but your blocks are so enticing.

  5. Gorgeous top! thanks for the tutorial. I don't think you need a border- it's wonderful as is! Maybe use the white for binding to pull it together?

  8. I love this bright and cheery quilt. I think you could go with either a neutral or a colorful border. I'd lay some out on the sides and see which one grabbed me and go with that. :) Thanks for sharing!
