Binding - scrappy used up leftovers from All hands on Deck

Whales and Sails

This quilt is so special because it has fabric donated from my friend's family members scattered throughout. Some of them are from his dads old shirts, old baby blankets etc.

Whales and Sails - back
I think I like the back better than the front. It really showcases the quilting.
Whales and Sails - back
I framed the map print in some leftover navy fabrics and then used a blue flannel from Joann's for the rest of the back. The flannel isn't a true solid. It has some darker splotches in it and reminds me of water.

I did FMQ waves on the map region. You can see it better in the closeup below.

Whales and Sails - label
This is the label. It was a family member fabric contribution that I couldn't bear to cut into a 4" square for the centers of the blocks.

Lovely rolled up quilty. I'm so honored to be able to make this quilt for a friend. I hope little W loves it and has lots of sweet dreams under it once he gets old enough for his big boy bed.
